NENA Ontario ENP Reimbursement Scholarship
NENA ONTARIO INC ENP REIMBURSEMENT POLICY – January 2025
It is hereby a policy of National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Ontario Inc. (herein after referred to NENA ON) to provide financial support to Public, Private and Emergency Dispatch members (herein after referred to as members), as set out in the NENA Ontario Inc. By-laws, wanting to apply for and receive their Emergency Number Professional (ENP) designation. Individuals applying for the reimbursement must be members in good standing with NENA Ontario as of the date of application of reimbursement.
NENA Ontario encourages members to seek tuition reimbursement from their employers first. However, in the event that their tuition reimbursement request is denied or only a partial amount is approved, NENA Ontario will reimburse an amount of up to $600 dollars in Canadian funds. This amount is intended to help cover the cost to the member of the initial writing of the ENP exam. The number of applicants in a given year will determine the amount reimbursed to each individual. Applications from all eligible applicants must be submitted by December 1st. These applications, received during the calendar year, will be reviewed following the Annual General Meeting each December, and the available funds will be fairly dispersed to ensure the fixed annual budget is shared equitably.
To apply for reimbursement, a member will submit their request for reimbursement through the NENA Ontario website application form along with a copy of the following:
- Proof of successful completion of the ENP examination; and
- Proof of payment to sit the ENP examination;
- Proof that their workplace has denied their full reimbursement request or, if their workplace offers partial payment, documentation showing the amount already reimbursed.
Members should note that the reimbursement does not apply to the following:
- Re-writes of the ENP exam should the applicant be unsuccessful the first time ENP re-certification; and
- ENP re-certification;
- Any travel and/or accommodation costs including meals associated with ENP examination process
Upon receipt upon a reimbursement request from a member, the second Vice President will confirm the membership status of the member and forward the information to the Treasurer for reimbursement of said amount.
Members will submit their request for reimbursement through the NENA Ontario website application form. The second Vice President will confirm the membership status of the member and issue a receipt of confirmation upon submission. Applications from all eligible applicants who applied during the calendar year will be reviewed after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in December. At that time, the total number of applicants will determine the amount reimbursed to each individual. The second Vice President will then forward the information to the Treasurer, who will process the reimbursements based on the amount allocated to each applicant.
NENA Ontario will maintain up to $5,000 in the annual budget for ENP reimbursements each year.
The amount of the individual refund and annual budget amounts will be reviewed on an annual basis by the Executive to ensure NENA Ontario is maintaining sufficient budgetary amounts to be able to financially support our NENA Ontario members.
